Aquaculture farms rearing shellfish on Long Island have become increasingly popular nowadays. Much of the cultured shellfish harvested from Long Island waters remain a local commodity, with many harvesters selling their shellfish either to local restaurants or fish markets or directly to the consumer from their own business front. By far, oysters are the most popular shellfish grown and consumed locally.

The Long Island Oyster Growers Association (LIOGA) represents all of our local shellfish growers and has been a long-time partner of CCE. Visit their website at www.liogany.org for more information and a list of shellfish growers providing fresh, locally grown oysters.
